Welcome to 2012

With the new year come new ideas. Ideas about what your life will be like for you, how you can change to make it better in the new year. We all make resolutions, even if we say we didn't, in our mind there are always tiny thoughts that you say to yourself. "I will lose weight." "I will be happier." For me, I am not making resolutions, I am making promises. Because its harder to break a promise than it is a resolution. These are my promises:

My 2012 Promises

I promise to find a career that I can be proud of and enjoy.
I promise to save enough money to get my own place.
I promise to put aside as much money as I can afford for rainy days.
I promise to erase as much of my debt as I possibly can.
I promise to be happier with myself.
I promise to be prettier on the outside as well as the inside.
I promise to hang out with my friends more.
I promise to wake up and walk/run every day that I can so I can be a healthier weight in 2013.
I promise write more. It is what I want to do with my life after all.
I promise to read more.
I promise to make 2012 my year. After all, 12 is my lucky and favorite number.

In just 12 days after the new year I will be turning thirty and I promise to make the 30s the best years of my life.

Chuck Klosterman Lecture

Me with Chuck, its kind of blurry I know but what can you expect from cell phone cameras.

We had a visit today from Chuck Klosterman, renowned journalist and author of books like Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, which has a great essay on Saved by the Bell. I ♥ Zach Morris. Fargo Rock City, a heavy metal oddessey in North Dakota. Killing Yourself to Live, where he visits the death sites of famous rock and roll stars, and also many more. I bought two of his books and of course got him to sign both of them. They are going on my summer reading list.
I admit I had never heard of him before but I find him brilliant. I was introduced to his work through my Mass Communication and Society class. We were talking about pop culture and had to read some of his work. I think my professor for this, "Thanks Dr.Foss!" He is just what I want to be, funny, talented, a famous journalist and author. He gave some aweomse advice today too and now I will share that with you.
Advice to aspiring writers: Write a book that you want to read that does not exist, then make that book exist.

It all happens by chance. The best decisions, the most important ones, you will not know they are important at the time.

Create your own life. There is no normal/right way to become who you want to be,

I heard these and I knew he was talking to me, even if there were over 100 people in the room, he wsa still talking to me. I think I am in love. Kidding, he is engaged. I do find him so adorably cute though. There is something about the red beard that I love. He has inspired me to actually want to write more. I have always loved writing, and always want to write a book I just never had a solid idea. Now I will take his advice and write about something I would want to read.

XOXO,

Another Day, Another Something

Well it's Wednesday, and all I have to report is that my workout is still kicking my ass. Yesterday was 45 minutes of steady cardio, but today I did the strength session again. I can still feel every muscle in my body quivering. I had to come home and take a nap. We added a step to the end of the workout. I have to squeeze a ball in between my legs which is not so bad. The first time I did this one though, my ass and thighs were hurting something feirce the next day. Then I take the ball in between my feet and lift it and lower it for two counts each. I think I did this one a little too fast to get it over with. The only weight I lift is 2 10lb. weights the rest is using my own body weight. As I pointed out to Jessica, my trainer, that's a lot of body weight. A whole 173lbs. of weight to be exact. I know 173lbs. seems like a lot but its not as bad as it was last March when I weighted about 213lbs. I want to be down to a managable weight and I want to wear cute clothes damnit. Once clothes get to a certain size range, they do not look so cute anymore. They just look like tons of fabric.

I have a paper/story/profile thing due tomorrow. It's for my feature writing class. We have to write a story on a place that we actually visited. I chose my first night in Paris. It was the only thing I could think of, so I guess it wanted to be put into words. I will post it on here after I turn it in to her so you guys can let me know what you think. I had my travel writing teacher look over it, and she said it was really good, just need to tweak a few things. Now I have to get ready for my Online journalism class tonight and a meeting in an hour with a group of students I am interviewing for a peice I am doing for the online journalism class. More about that later too.
